Its Thanksgiving Eve and many of the divorced are realizing that they're spending the holiday alone. I remember friends backing out on plans last minute and sitting alone wondering what exactly I was thankful for. However, it seemed like sometime, somehow, through the weekend I'd catch up with friends, go for a hike, catch up on work or buy my kiddos tons of holiday gifts... Of course this was after being alone on the holiday.
How do you get through it? |

If you're lucky enough to still have parents or siblings (or other family), it's just like old times. In a bad marriage, holidays like Thanksgiving usually aren't all that great to begin with, so it's not like you're pining for the good ol' days. I have my kids every other Thanksgiving (as with other holidays) and though I miss them on the off years, I am thankful for them and for the new life I am enjoying.
