DAILY CHALLENGE
Cathy and Jim are dating and at the point in their relationship where they sleep over each other’s homes. The problem is that each time one sleeps over the other’s house; one or both do not get a good night’s rest. Cathy tends to be a bit of a blanket hog and Jim snores, and in the morning both inevitably end up cranky and snapping at the other. And since Cathy leaves for work much earlier than Jim does, he tends to stay up later watching TV in bed, while her morning routine awakens him earlier than he'd like. What can Cathy and Jim do in order to sleep better while together?

DAILY FIX
In order for Cathy and Jim be able to to continue sleeping over each other's homes and not feel cranky in the morning, they can follow these suggestions:
- Cathy and Jim should try using a large comforter. They need to make sure that the comforter is larger than the bed so in case Cathy pulls the covers during the night, the Jim will not be left being without any. They can also keep a spare blanket at the foot of the bed just in case one of them suddenly needs it during the night.
- Since Jim snores, he should either get a special pillow, nasal spray, nose strips, or a snore clip to help alleviate his snoring. If Jim is unaware of the habit or now annoying it is to her, Cathy should politely tell him how his snoring has been keeping her up at night, remembering that there is little he can do to physically control it. Cathy can then purchase some of these anti-snoring aids for Jim, or accompany him to the store to shop for them together. Jim may fear that some of the more noticeable sleep tools will make him appear less attractive or sexy to Cathy, so she should let him know in advance that that won't be the case.
- Since Cathy needs to get up much earlier than Jim, she will need to make sure that she is quiet and keeps the lights off in the bedroom when she is getting dressed in the morning. It may be a good idea to have Cathy lay out her work clothes the night before so she is not fumbling in the dark. And keeping the bathroom door closed during her morning shower, electric toothbrush, or hair dryer routine will show Jim that she is at least trying.
- This couple should probably refrain from watching TV in bed. The light or noise from the TV will keep one of them tossing and turning while the other is happily watching or worse, has fallen asleep with the TV on. If watching TV in bed is a habit Jim doesn't want to give up, he should at least agree to turn it off once Cathy closes her eyes for the night. In fact, getting on the same sleep schedule would be a helpful to their relationship overall, even if Jim doesn't need to leave the house as early as Cathy.
Sleeping together is more than just the act of sex. If two people learn to share a bedroom in harmony, it will go a long way to keeping their daylight relationship happy and enduring as well.
