I have been dating my current boyfriend for over 7 months now, and I have never before been involved in a relationship as special as this one. Why? Because he is the most intelligent, funny, off-the-wall person I've ever met. I've been picky (which is why I'm 40 and never married). I've dated men who were the wrong type for me, yet I thought they were the type I was supposed to be with (read my entry Every Pot Has A Lid...) and it turns out, they were not.
My boyfriend lives approximately 25-30 miles from me, but he sends me postcards in the mail, usually one each week, or whenever he wants to say hello. On days/nights when we are apart, he takes up his pen, and his wacky collection of postcards, and writes something funny or romantic and drops it in the mail. When I check my mailbox, and I see I have received one of the treasured postcards from him, I can't help but smile. There have been days when my mood or attitude is just terrible, and I see a card from him and my mood changes. I can't recall another man that I've been involved with who can change my bad mood into a light-hearted one so easily.
I'm sharing this because it might inspire some to do the same thing, maybe something romantically quirky. Even if you live in the same house/apartment, wouldn't it be fun to just mail a postcard to your significant other, letting them know at that moment, you thought about them enough to say so on paper?
