We had a nice weekend, mostly because I finally got paid for a job that I did. The stress of waiting for the payment has affected me as a mom and as a wife. I have literally been stalking the mailman waiting for him to bring my check!
Like I said before my husband is supportive of my writing career (such as it is) but he is even more supportive when I actually make money from my work.
So with a little cash in hand we were able to do some fun (yet cheap) things this weekend. I took the kids to a nature center (had a free pass to use before it expired).
I love taking them to nature centers, the kids really love nature and they are very inquisative.
We went up the observation tower, which was really cool and really high up. The girls ran ahead of me and my son, oh to be that young and take all those stairs that fast! My son was a little nervous so I had to hold his hand on the way up.
At the top of the tower the view was fantastic, but very windy, we didnt stay up there very long! The girls of course, ran down the steps to the bottom, my son and I just poked along down the steps.
I swear every step I took down that tower I could hear my thigh muscles screaming in agony. The kids apparently felt no ill affects.
We went down to the beach and skipped stones. At the beach, the girls spotted a bunch of washed up dead fish...there was much screaming and ewwwwing. The dead fish did not stop them from picking up about 100 stones to carry home. We also spotted tons of turtles, tadpoles and turkeys at the nature center, we got a huge bang for our buck
The rest of the weekend was spent enjoying the nice weather and hanging out as a family-with me sneaking in work here and there. Bad thing about freelancing there are NO set hours.
My husband was lucky to have not only saturday off but memorial day to (he worked sunday). The kids enjoy spending time with their dad. He does all those cool dad things that I don't do.
He plays soccer with them, he chases them around and tickles them and he lets them ride on the riding lawn mower with them (and he even lets them steer!).
Of course, he also gets in trouble with them, he plays soccer with them and since he is the adult he is supposed to keep the ball out of my garden...yeah, he gets it in my garden more then the kids do.
We only have 3 weeks of school left before summer vacation. It is unbelievable! Not sure what I am going to do with the kids all summer long. We have a couple of things scheduled like a trip and swimming lessons, but not much else.
