I am an admitted and practicing bibliophile and to say I have a favorite book would be likened to loving one child more that the other. I love the chewiness of words and revel in the well-penned paragraphs that fill the bindings which lie-in-wait on my bookshelves. The words in some books are meaningless to me in the summer and in the dead of winter can fill me with warmth. That is why I keep them, I think, my books, like life, can sometimes be completely devoid of compatibility at other times are the link to the why of life’s existence.

Horticulture. I love polishing the art of having a green thumb. I have many plants in and around my home, and am currently five years in to a bonsai tree project. If all goes well these trees will be passed down to my children’s children.I love companion animals. I have a pair of rescued Chihuahuas. Lady Godiva and Prince Valliant. They are abut eight years old and are just simply adorable each and every day. Having Chi-Chis says something about one’s personality. I attribute a levity just short of clownishness to Chi-Chi owners. It may not be apparent but it is there. Breed specific dog owners can usually be grouped like this. I also own an iguana that has been hand raised since she was a hatchling. Her name is Esmeralda. Being an iguana owner is partly because of my husband; however, since becoming one, I have continued to be reminded that there is a unique beauty in each creature. This is a wonderful lesson and it is such an interesting animal.I love, love, love arts and crafts. I am a closet arts and crafts geek and only a few of my friends knew this. I guess I just came out of that closet to all of you. If you too are in the arts and crafts closet, reach out to me and I can help you come out too. I feel so liberated.Graphic design is another of my passions. I am very visual and see things in pictures and received my BA in Graphic Design recently. I do some freelance work to keep my skills sharp. It is such an interesting field. I guess because my writing work sometimes takes me across the border into the advertising world, my inquisitive nature makes me want to figure out not only how to turn a phrase but how to layout the whole advertisement. Publishing as a whole is a field that is morphing right in front of our eyes. Books are no longer being bought in binding but are downloaded to our handheld devices. Magazine pages are read on laptops and iPhones and ads are sent to our mobile devices not placed on paper pages. It is all very interesting to me so I put myself in the middle of a lot of it just so I can feel the changes as they occur. I enjoy traveling. I have lived in South America and Europe. I want to see the places I’ve read about, like Egypt, China and India. I will go there. I don’t know when but I will go.
